Vision Board Guide

"Direction is more important than speed" - Richard L. Evans

The start of the new year, or of a new way of being is a great time to create a vision board. A vision boards is a visual representation of your goals and what you would like to manifest in the near future. Their popularity has increased over the last few years because they work! Vision boards give you clarity on what you value in this phase of your life so they help you go into the new year or new phase with focus and determination.

We often negate the importance of focus, and it is my opinion as a Life Coach and Hypnotherapist that it is one of the reasons we struggle so much with change. When we focus on what we are losing or leaving behind our energy is still attached to that thing, what we want to do is to focus on what we are creating and why it is important to us. Understanding why we value what we value helps us stay motivated when life gets difficult and reminds us of the goal we are working towards, and why it is worth the difficulties that come with growth.

Vision boards are not only powerful because of the clarity they bring but also because they engage the artist within you to remember that in every moment you are co-creating your life. They are a claim of personal power that doesn't just say "I was here" but "I was intentionally here, and did what I could to create a life I am happy with." Often times we are aware that we want change but we forget that we can create change, so we do what we have always done and get what we've always gotten out of life, and then get frustrated and believe things will never change and we get stuck in a disempowering mindset. Vision Boards are a great way to take your power back, to say this is my life, I am claiming it and co-creating it. You will be amazed by how much begins to shift when you shift your energy and own the power of your focus. Below you will find my five(5) step vision board guide which you can jump right into and begin creating your physical or digital vision board today! If you find it hard to create a vision for yourself I created a worksheet you can access here that will break down different areas of your life that you can set goals around, and then go into the vision board creation process.

You can create a life that feels like it's yours. You can be who you've always wanted to be, and you can feel peace and love as you grow through your life experiences.

Step 1: Gather your supplies and begin to cultivate the vibe you want by playing relaxing music, breathing deeply to ground your body, and consciously connecting with the present moment as you set the intention to be open and connect with your truth and the wisest version of yourself.

Step 2: With deep love and openness ask yourself "What would bring me fulfillment and the feelings I am after this year?" Be present with any words and images that come up in your mind and know you are being divinely inspired.  Remember to stay positively focused, so if you find yourself reminded of what you don't want, use that information to get clear on what the opposite of that is, and ask yourself if that's what you want and what that means to you. Take notes of what comes up for you and what you envision.

Ask yourself "What do I want to accomplish?" and add that to your notes as you consider why that is important to you in this phase of your life journey.

Step 3: Go through magazines or search online for pictures, words, or quotes that depict what came up for you and stack them in a pile or save them to use. Consider adding a picture of yourself to your vision board so you can mentally own it and visually see these things in your environment. You can also draw or paint what you envision for yourself and create an artistic representation to add to the board. Let your inspiration lead you.

Step 4: Go through your selected pictures and choose the ones that feel most in alignment with what you want to manifest. Lay them on your board (or upload them to where you are creating your board digitally) in a way that is appealing and makes sense to you. It can be as simple or as elaborate as you'd like. After you are satisfied with the arrangement, glue, pin, or save all of your pictures in their places.

Step 5: Place your vision board where you will frequently see it, if you don't have much physical space for it take a photo of it and set it as your phone background or "favorite" it so you can see it regularly and re-connect to your vision.

Pro Tip: It's a good idea to set a monthly calendar reminder to review your board and see what you've manifested as you go through your year!

Remember to stay aligned with your vision by being disciplined with your focus and giving your energy to things that are going to be good investments of your time. Life can get complicated and people will have their own agendas for you so it is important that you remember your own agenda for your life, your vision for your life, and if what is going on doesn't directly impact you or it is not moving you towards your goals or in alignment with your values redirect your focus, look at the picture of your vision board and act in alignment with that version of you that is currently blossoming.
